Learn About Vintage Clawfoot Tubs and Freestanding Bathtubs

Individuals began using clawfoot tubs centuries ago, and this style remains popular today, as it can provide a home with a modern or classic feel. With many styles to select from, consumers find locating the perfect clawfoot tub for their residence has never been easier. In addition, the tubs come in more than one material and there are numerous benefits to owning a bathing unit of this type. Consider the following when determining if a clawfoot tub is right for your home.

Freestanding Tub Styles

The Tub Connection supplies many different styles of freestanding tubs to meet the needs of all consumers. Rolled rim or classic models feature one end with a reclining surface, allowing the user to relax while bathing, with the other end being more vertical. Double-ended tubs consist of two reclining ends and offer a vintage look to the bathing unit, yet the slipper tub now appears to be the most popular. This tub offers one raised side and one reclining side, providing the slipper shape referred to in the name. The double slipper tub provides room for two to bathe simultaneously and features two raised ends. This remains the largest of the clawfoot tub offerings, so keep this in mind when selecting this model.

Clawfoot Tub Materials

Originally, all tubs of this type were made using cast iron, yet times have changed. Consumers now have the option of purchasing a cast iron tub or one made of acrylic. Each comes with its own advantages and drawbacks that need to be considered. When selecting a bathing unit, consumers find they also have foot finish options for their tub. The feet truly distinguish the tub from other freestanding models on the market today, thus the finish tends to be of great importance to consumers. Some models feature feet centered at the four corners, yet others may be slightly offset. In addition to chrome, consumers may choose from oil rubbed bronze feet, brushed nickel versions, and more.
