Choosing an Acrylic Clawfoot Tub

When it comes to beautiful designs, lightweight models, and durable materials, Acrylic Clawfoot Tubs are the only way to go!  Over a century ago Clawfoot Bathtubs became a common household item. However, they were only available in heavy cast iron metal. Today, Acrylic has paved the way for homeowners to have an affordable alternative to the old style tubs. The same elegance in the bathroom is available to every homeowner.

Acrylic tubs typically come in white, or sometimes bisque. However, due to the flexibility of the material, these types of bathtubs may be customized with almost any color imaginable. Here at The Tub Connection, we get requests for all different colors. Though white and black are the most-common, we can offer a customized model in almost any shade or color you can find. You may choose any single, solid color from Sherwin Williams, Behr or any other paint vendor and we will paint your tub to your exact color choice. The Tub Connection is fortunate enough to have artisans on staff that not only paint a tub, but they design color motifs on tubs, such as our hand-painted Copper Bronze Finsh.

Acrylic bathtubs are easy to accessorize when it comes to the faucet as well. Unlike cast iron, acrylic can have faucet holes drilled into the tub with ease. So, if you want a faucet that mounts onto the rim of the tub (these are called "deckmount faucets"), we can create this for you. If you prefer a freestanding faucet or one that mounts onto the bathroom wall (this is called "bathroom wall mounted faucets") we can easily do this for you as well. Often times the buyer will match the feet of the tub with the plumbing, so the tub may be white and the feet and faucet are brushed nickel, however, white feet with polished chrome plumbing is an option. Your design style is allowed to shine when choosing the color and finishes for your tub, clawfeet, and plumbing.

Like cast iron tubs, you may choose the finish for the feet of your acrylic tub. Chrome, Brushed Nickel, and Oil Rubbed Bronze are the three most-popular choices for foot finish. Other colors are also available upon request as well: these include black, matte black, white. The feet for our amazing acrylic tubs are Ball and Clawfeet, Imperial Ball & Clawfeet or Lion's Paw style. All tubs have detailed and specific instructions regarding the installation of the feet onto the bathtub. Pre-drilled holes and nut, bolt and screw sizes are specific along with the fact that the angle of the feet in relationship to the tub is a factor. Be sure to confirm the foot style and foot finish you like most on the order form in the cart.

Saving on Your Tub

One great way to save money on your new Acrylic Clawfoot Tub and Faucet is to purchase an entire plumbing package with the tub. You can do this right on the page of the product when ordering. Simply add a faucet package to your order and you will save a lot of money compared to ordering them separately. Like many things, it is a "cheaper by the dozen" philosophy Purchasing 4, 7 or 10 items at once is going to save money for your, rather than purchasing a single item here and there. The faucet packages include the type of faucet you desire. perhaps a Classic Telephone or Gooseneck faucet and water supply lines for your specific style of faucet and tub. It will also include a tub drain & overflow assembly. This device is how the waste water is moved out of the bath tub and down the drain and how water is kept from overflowing from the bathtub onto the floor should the faucet be left on. Each of these is available in Polished Chrome, Brushed Nickel and Oil Rubbed Bronze. Remember you may match the faucet finish and the clawfoot finish if you like.
