Slipper Clawfoot Tubs

Slipper Clawfoot Bathtubs

When it comes to the vintage style bathtubs, the slipper clawfoot bathtub design is the most-popular style. There are two different styles of slipper tub for you to choose from. The single slipper and the double slipper. The single slipper tub has one end of the bathtub raised with a reclined back. This enables one to relax as they bathe and it takes any stress off of the back and neck (when compared to other tubs which do not have a raised end).  A double slipper tub has both ends of the bathtub raised. This allows for reclining at either end of the tub and these models tend to be roomier than the single slipper tubs. Slipper tubs will differ in how much the elevated or sloped tub wall raises. Be sure to look at the interior floor space so that you are aware of how much space you have to stretch out in the tub.

When shopping for a tub for two, a double slipper tub is needed. You should note the width of the tub. Wider will be better. A double slipper that is 68" long by 28" wide is lovely but is only for one person. It will be much too narrow for two adults. A two person tub needs to be a minimum of 30" is wide. Again wider is always going to be better. You will find that we have tubs that are as big as 72" long by 34" wide.

The Slipper Tub gets its name from the way it looks when viewed from the side. It appears to be in the form of a slipper (shoe). The shorter end of the tub is where the faucet would be placed. It could either be mounted on the deck of the tub (deckmount faucet) or you may choose to use a freestanding faucet. Vintage style faucets like the British Telephone or Classic Telephone Faucet is very popular and may be available with a hand held shower sprayer.   A Gooseneck type faucet looks nice, too, especially if it also has a hand held shower sprayer.

It is important to purchase quality plumbing to place next to your new high quality clawfoot slipper tubs. Our faucets are all made of heavy duty brass. Each of our faucets have a very fine finish. We offer faucets in Polished Chrome, Brushed Nickel and Oil Rubbed Bronze. There are some that may be available in polished brass, as well. Another feature of a quality faucet is the ceramic cartridges and the 1/4 turn valves.
